SmartDeblur

The SmartDeblur application was purposely developed by Vladimir Yuzhikov to process blurred images and make them visible. It can be annoying to find out that an image is blurred because you moved the camera as you took the shot or because the focus was off. Not to worry! Load that blurred image into the SmartDeblur application and it will fix the problem.

To get the application up and running, you need to download a 7MB archive, extract its contents, then run the SmartDeblur executable. You don’t have to go through any installation process, you need only run an executable. This means that it will take very little time to get the application on your machine and start using it.

The main pane of SmartDeblur interface presents the blurred image you’re working on. In the upper left hand corner you will find two tabs: Main and Settings. From the Main tab you can load a blurred image and play with a few options to make it visible. From the Settings tab you can pick the image size limit, iterations count for high-quality, and the preview method.

To help you better understand how to use SmartDeblur, when you launch the application you are invited to load a sample image and you’re presented with instructions on how to make it visible. It’s really a very simple process to make a blurred image visible: pick the defect type (out of focus blur, motion blur, or Gaussian blur), move the Radius slider, then use the Smooth slider to choose the desired quality level.
